About the Role

Business Development Intern - Sustainability

Location: Boston Office, Hybrid

Schedule: 10-20 hours per week

Duration: 4-6 months

This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial, team-oriented, self-motivated and driven individual to support our Sustainability Investment Banking group. Interns will experience the culture of Canaccord Genuity by playing an integral role in supporting senior bankers to help identify and engage with companies in sustainability‑driven or ESG‑relevant sectors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support senior bankers in identifying founder‑owned, privately held, and management‑owned companies that may benefit from sustainability‑related advisory services or capital solutions.
  • Conduct sustainability‑focused market mapping to identify emerging companies across areas such as clean technology, circular economy, climate tech, resource efficiency, and responsible supply chains.
  • Help with outreach campaigns by drafting targeted emails and materials that speak to sustainability themes and our advisory offerings.
  • Maintain and update CRM entries, ensuring company profiles, sustainability attributes, and meeting notes are accurate and complete.
  • Support pipeline tracking for sustainability‑focused companies and developing relationships.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND:

  • Rising senior or current Master’s student at a leading college or university. 
  • Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, Marketing, Economics or Finance majors preferred.

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
