Homesteaders Life Company’s legal and compliance department is looking for a summer law clerk to join our team. This position provides law students with the opportunity to gain practical, in-house experience working both on legal and compliance matters impacting the life insurance industry. 

The Summer Law Clerk will work closely with members of our legal team and may interact with business partners across the organization. Assignments will focus heavily on legal research and regulatory analysis or other projects that may support the team. 

Responsibilities may include: 

• Conduct legal research on insurance law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance issues. 
• Research and summarize federal and state insurance laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance. 
• Participate in meetings with legal and business teams to better understand company operations. 
• Provide support in corporate and subsidiary organization. 
• Provide general support on legal and compliance projects and initiatives as needed. 

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school (preferably rising 3L; strong rising 2L candidates will be considered).
• Excellent legal research and writing skills, including experience with LexisNexis.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Interest in insurance or corporate law is preferred. 
• Available for full-time work from May until August 2026.
