Working as a part of a team, the Accounts Payable Intern supports the Procure-2-Pay process to maximize service to external and internal customers, contributing to the strong and reliable reputation of Volker Stevin Group. Under the direction of the Account Payable Manager, the Intern will deliver customer service using established procedures for all work associated with processing invoices.

This is a summer student position with a term from May – August 2026


How You’ll Add Value

  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Assistwith thetimelyandaccurateprocessing of accounts payable invoices under the guidance of the Accounts Payable team
  • Review, upload, and enter invoices into the system, ensuring they are coded to the correct Volker Stevin company and account
  • Support two-way and three-way matching of invoices topurchaseorders and receipts of goods or services
  • Help obtain required approvals and support documentation prior to invoice payment, following established procedures
  • Assistwith processing subcontract and progress billing invoices, including learning how holdbacks are applied whererequired
  • Review account coding on purchase orders and invoices for accuracy and reasonability, escalating questions as needed
  • Support the resolution of invoice discrepancies by communicating with internal team members and vendors
  • Enter non–purchase order invoices (e.g., rentals, utilities, payroll-related requests) withappropriate approvals
  • Assistwith vendor statement reviews and help reconcile vendor accounts toidentifydiscrepancies
  • Respond to basic invoicing inquiries from vendors and internal stakeholders, escalating complex issues to the Accounts Payable team or Manager

 

What You Bring

  • Enrolled in a Business or Accounting program and returning to school in September2026
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship, and communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Familiarity with the construction industry is considered an asset 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) 
  • Exposure to Viewpoint ERP and MS D365 is considered an asset 

Criteria for position

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (college, university, or technical program)
  • Returning to post-secondary studies after completing the work term
