MassDEP serves the Commonwealth by protecting natural resource areas that involve water, land and air. MassDEP is responsible for ensuring clean air and water, safe management and recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources. Bureau/Division Overview

The mission of the Department of Revenue’s Child Support Services Division is to enhance the well-being of children by partnering with parents and caregivers to meet the financial needs of the family.  Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self-sufficiency.

DOR/CSS’s core functions are to establish parentage, and establish, enforce and modify child support and health insurance orders.  Much of our success depends on collaborations with a wide variety of state agencies and private entities.

 

Position Summary

The summer intern will gain valuable insight into child support inventory workflows, best practices for inventory management, backlog reduction, and customer service. The intern’s work will help identity process improvement opportunities and highlight operational challenges that may require attention.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist the Regional Deputy Director in gathering and reviewing child support inventory and performance data.

  • Work with child support team leaders and assist with processing child support inventory to gain hands-on understanding of inventory movement and workflows.

  • Analyze inventory movement and backlog trends to support process improvement efforts.

  • Identify basic patterns and challenges related to inventory management and customer service.

  • Present findings to managers at the conclusion of the summer internship.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills, particularly in working with a diverse group of individuals

  • Strong Project Management skills

  • Familiarity with Excel tools and formulas relevant to data analysis.

  • Understanding of basic charting and graphing tools in Excel.
