About The Company
Blue Haven Initiative is an innovative family office dedicated to putting wealth to work for competitive returns and positive social and environmental change. Investing with high standards to maximize financial performance and public benefit, it manages a diversified investment portfolio across asset classes, from public equities and fixed-income holdings to private equity and direct investments.
About the Role

Organization Overview

Founded in 2012 by Liesel and Ian Simmons, Blue Haven Initiative (BHI) is a single-family office managing a diversified investment portfolio. As one of the first family offices created with impact investing as its mission and focus, BHI seeks market rates of financial return on its investments as well as maximum social and environmental impact. With this approach, BHI considers the nuanced implications of its investment choices while pursuing financial returns appropriate to each asset class or venture.

A core focus of BHI is its in-house Private Investments team, which partners with bold entrepreneurs and emerging fund managers who are tackling some of today’s most pressing challenges. The Private Investments team deploys long-term capital into high-growth, tech-enabled businesses and leading fund managers. Our strategy centers on three core pillars: climate, financial services, and mental health. We back solutions that decarbonize industries and build resilience, technologies that expand financial access and stability, and models that improve mental health outcomes and affordability. These focus areas reflect our conviction that addressing interconnected global challenges can generate both strong returns and lasting impact.

BHI is a fast-moving, dynamic workplace requiring high enthusiasm for financial and operational due diligence as well as the impact intended with each investment. BHI is a remote organization, with the Managing Director based in New York City.

Position Summary

The summer internship is a unique, high-visibility opportunity to work at the heart of BHI's investment activities. As a member of the Private Investments team reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Summer Associate will be embedded in end-to-end investment processes, from early-stage sourcing and market mapping through due diligence, pipeline management, and live deal support. The Summer Associate will also contribute to systems optimization and process improvements that directly shape how the team operates. This is a dynamic role with real responsibility: the Summer Associate will interact directly with senior leadership, Investment Committee members, and founders, gaining exposure that is rare at the internship level and meaningful from day one.

The internship is expected to be approximately 2 months, running from June to August. The position is full-time and remote, with flexibility on work location. The Summer Associate will have the option to work in-person with the Managing Director in New York City a few times per week for those based in or near the area. A detailed description of the position is included below.
