About the Role

Your Impact at Lila

As a Nucleic Acid Research Intern, you will contribute to day-to-day experimentation in the nucleic acids research lab by learning and executing SOPs such as bacterial transformation, colony picking and preparation of samples for DNA sequencing. You will assist with the production of bacterial samples for large scale protein expression and purification. As well, you will be helping to maintain organization within the lab, including management of reagent inventory and sample accessioning.

What You'll Be Building

  • Manage inventory for cloning workflows to ensure smooth operation.
  • Help with laboratory workflows, including bacterial transformation, colony picking, sequencing sample preparation.
  • Preparation of media and growth of bacterial cultures for large scale protein expression and purification
  • Organize and track chemical, reagent and DNA libraries using our inventory system.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the life sciences.
  • Comfort working in wet-lab environments and following detailed SOPs.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.
