Data Engineer - Intern

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer Intern to join our Data & Analytics team for the summer. This internship offers hands-on experience working with real enterprise data, modern data platforms, and cross-functional partners. The intern will support the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines that enable analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision making across the organization. 

This is an excellent opportunity for students who are passionate about data, technology, and learning how large-scale data systems are built and operated.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in building, maintaining, and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines that ingest data from multiple sources
  • Support data integration efforts across operational systems, cloud platforms, and analytics tools
  • Help with data validation, quality checks, and basic troubleshooting of data issues
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to support analytics and reporting needs
  • Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, and analysts on active projects
  • Document data flows, transformations, and technical logic
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team stand-ups
  • Learn and apply data engineering best practices related to performance, reliability, and scalability

Required Qualifications:

 Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • Basic knowledge of SQL
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python or Java
  • Understanding of core data concepts (tables, joins, schemas, ETL)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently as well as in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with data tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, or similar
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Coursework or projects related to data engineering, databases, or analytics
