This internship will be based in Charlotte, NC.

Reporting

This intern will report to the Senior Manager of Corporate and Technical Reporting.

Summary of Role 

Palmetto is seeking a motivated and curious student to join the Accounting team for a summer internship. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience supporting real business initiatives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

The intern will gain exposure to corporate accounting and financial reporting processes and contribute to meaningful work aligned with team priorities during a critical quarterly close period. This role is structured to provide practical development while delivering measurable business value through participation in month-end close support, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting preparation.

Throughout the internship, the intern will support accounting workflows related to solar asset tranche activity, EPC payment structures, and accounts receivable reporting while gaining insight into financial operations within the renewable energy industry.

Core Responsibilities

The intern will support the Accounting team through project-based work and ongoing close activities. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with activities supporting the monthly close process, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation
  • Assisting with preparation of balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts
  • Supporting preparation of quarter-end financial reporting schedules and related documentation
  • Contributing to reconciliation template improvements and documentation updates to strengthen internal controls
  • Assisting with accounting workflows related to solar asset tranche activity and EPC payment structures
  • Supporting data tracking, reporting preparation, and process improvement initiatives within the accounting team
  • Completing a defined project focused on improving reconciliation templates, close support schedules, or accounting documentation

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical or problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in accounting, finance, or financial reporting is preferred
  • Interest in renewable energy, climate tech, or mission-driven organizations
