Description:  

In this role, you will learn the ins-and-outs of our daily work by supporting the hands-on analysis, troubleshooting and problem solving of body shop processes, including automation, welding, maintenance and production topics. You will be integrated into the body shop team and directly mentored by an experienced engineer.

You are expected to collaborate and network with other Co-ops/Interns to support plant wide initiatives and Engineering. To be successful in this position, you must be able to balance daily operational tasks while working on several projects, willing to learn and develop new ideas, have a keen understanding of time management, meet deadlines as requested, willing and able to work in a fast-paced interdisciplinary team environment, and conduct yourself professionally.

The qualified international Intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Support in troubleshooting and problem solving of processes within the body shop.

  • Support in planning and preparation of process flow and integration of new vehicle launches and life cycle updates.

  • Support in driving continuous improvement of existing and new processes and developing new standards throughout the body shop.

  • Documentation of key performance indicators from production activities, summary of results and support in the management of topics.

  • Process and project data analysis, creation of processes or tools and basic programming.

  • Optimization of existing processes specific to body shop with the Engineers to optimize the output and overall efficiency of the line.

  • Use data analytics and PowerBI to analyze body shop specific topics regarding processes. Reports will be used for driving targets.

  •  Operator process optimization, cycle time evaluation, predictive maintenance dashboard for equipment failures, sealer application optimization,

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor or Graduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems/Industrial, Computer)

  • Useful skills: Programming languages, file management, presentation skills.

  • Must be enrolled at a university outside of the United States.

  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the US grading scale

  • Must have completed a prior BMW internship of at least 3 months in length.

  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).

  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.

  • Must provide the following paperwork in English.

    • Curriculum Vitae/Resume.
    • Last University Performance Record.
    • Cover letter (not required).
    • Relevant references and certificates (not required).
  • Work term dates are from September 21, 2026, to March 5, 2027.
