The Badger Meter Internship Program provides hands-on, real-world experience to students through projects that make a difference! In addition to your projects, you will be given the opportunity to participate in our robust Intern program focused on Badger Meter Culture, professional development, community outreach and a final capstone project.

Badger Meter is hiring a Firmware Quality Assurance Engineering Intern to work a summer internship at our Milwaukee facility.

This position will work with a mentor to perform firmware testing, troubleshooting, and development efforts on one or more product development or sustaining engineering projects. The work will include a combination of test case running, software development, data collection, and evaluation of embedded systems in any stage of product development from prototypes to field returns. The Firmware Test Engineering Intern will work in individual offices, electronics lab, hydro lab, and other workspaces, as appropriate.

We are looking for someone just starting or currently enrolled in a 2 year degree program who is interested in a summer internship to develop their skillset while in school and potentially beyond.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Firmware test plan development

  • Product testing, debugging, failure analysis

  • Develop and maintain self-improvement programs and automated scripts to optimize testing efforts

  • Collaborate with other team members to execute test plans and develop automation platforms

  • Create reports, memos, and provide status updates to engineers, supervisors, and project teams

  • Additional projects, tasks, and/or assignments as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field (First Year completed preferred)

  • Intermediate computer/technical skills in Microsoft products

  • Relevant Coursework including Python Programming, DC Circuits, and Analog Circuits

  • Relevant Coursework including Embedded Systems preferred

  • Basic understanding of engineering development tools such as SVN, compilers, and IDEs

  • Basic experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, logic analyzers preferred

  • Basic experience with version control, such as SVN or Git
