About the Role

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Graduate intern at MKS Atotech, you will be a partner with the GMF (General Metal Finishing) R&D department in ADC to gain exposure and comprehensive hands-on experience in the lab and pilot line environment. You will be a part of meaningful work to support product development and associated activities. In this role, you will report to the Team Manager of a specific R&D BU. You will carry out different approaches and methodologies to conduct different R&D activities related to product development, testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and process optimization under the technical guidance and direction from team. This will be comprehensive training to engage you and bring the best of your gained academic knowledge in industrial setup. You will be working closely with colleagues from your own BU, team manager, R&D manager, and other cross-functional departments local and global. An open and clear communication with the team members and R&D manager is expected. You are expected to come up with your own ideas and approaches to execute the tasks and duties successfully.

About the role:

A Graduate Intern will work closely with scientists and engineers on projects focused on R&D GMF and optimizing electroplating processes for advanced materials, additives and applications. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to cutting-edge research in surface finishing, materials science, and electrochemistry.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Candidate is expected to work with teams in the laboratory to carry out experiments and in the Laboratory/Pilot line to demonstrate feasibility and development of new products.

  • Support in executing Design of experiments (DOE) and Project activities as directed in a timely and qualitative manner.

  • Work with cross-functional teams including analytical, engineering, and product development groups

  • Exploring literature, conducting research to Support formulation development, material testing, or process optimization studies.

  • Participate in team discussions and present findings with transparent and regular effective communication of task completion progress to stakeholders.

  • Analyze experimental data and contribute to technical reports

  • Support scale-up activities and technology transfer processes

  • Present technical findings and propose next steps

  • Bringing innovation mindset and own ideas to make product and processes efficient.

  • Maintenance of 5S and safety as per the MKS MSD and departmental guidelines.

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of the projects and other Departmental information.

Skills You Bring:

  • Students pursing Master’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related disciplines

  • Strong foundation in chemical sciences or engineering with focus on synthesis, formulation, or process development

  • Experience in conducting independent laboratory research or academic projects

  • Familiarity with literature search tools and research databases (e.g., SciFinder, Scopus)

  • Data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Origin, or similar)

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety and good lab practices (GLP)

  • Familiarity with key instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, NMR, SEM, XRF etc.)

  • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, analytical, and product teams

  • Strong oral and written communication, collaboration and team player skills.

  • Ability to review literature and apply insights to practical research problems

  • Candidates should have passion for innovation to create new products and add value in R&D Self-motivated, out of the box thinking, self-accountability, and strong sense of ownership.
