About the Role


Chemist Warehouse is Australia’s leading retail pharmacy group, known for our commitment to providing accessible healthcare and exceptional customer service. We are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of pharmacists through our comprehensive Intern Training Program, operating nationally across Australia.

 

Join our dynamic team as a Pharmacy Intern and embark on a rewarding journey that combines hands-on experience with structured learning. Our 12-month program is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the pharmacy profession.

 

Program Structure

 

Our 12-month program includes full day of monthly training sessions, covering a wide range of topics such as clinical pharmacy, retail management, pharmacology, and Over-The-Counter product knowledge. These topics are broken down into 11 manageable interactive sessions during of the year’s program.

 

Practical Experience: Interns gain hands-on experience in various clinical services and retail pharmacy operations. This practical training is designed to complement the accredited Intern Training Program, and will include assisting with scripts, dispensing medication, providing customer service and advice on medications, inventory control as well as other administrative duties in the pharmacy.

 

Support and Resources: Interns have access to exclusive exam resources, practice oral exams with immediate feedback, and ongoing support from program facilitators and coordinators. Each intern is also assigned a dedicated onsite preceptor.

 

Career Pathways: Upon completion there are extensive employment opportunities within Chemist Warehouse. Career pathways include roles such as Pharmacist, Pharmacist in Charge, Pharmacist Manager, Area Manager, and even Pharmacy Owner opportunities.

What happens next?

 

Our application process for the 2026 intake opens in March 2025. While our Intern Training Program begins in January 2026, candidates eligible to undertake their pre-registrant year can commence earlier than this anticipated date.

 

  • Step 1: Complete the application form and submit your resume
  • Step 2: Eligible applicants will be invited to complete an online assessment including cognitive testing
  • Step 3: Successfully shortlisted applicants will be contacted by the Talent Acquisition team and invited to attend an interview
  • Step 4: Successfully interviewed applicants will be offered a position subject to obtaining the minimum requirements set by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a satisfactory National Criminal History Check.
