Our internship program is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, as well as individuals seeking to deepen their education through immersive, professional experience in the entertainment industry.

Business Affairs is responsible for negotiating and drafting development and production agreements with writers, producers, performers, directors, television networks, co-production entities and other television-related personnel and service providers on behalf of Sony Pictures Television and its related companies. Productions include scripted network, cable, and first-run syndicated television programming as well as animation and daytime programming. Also responsible for implementing and administering the business policies and procedures for SPT. Works with Creative, Production, Finance and Legal Affairs departments to provide information, business advice and consultation services on a regular basis. Involved in analyzing business and legal issues related to productions, as well as reviewing budgets and other financial information.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Research deal terms and issues, and provide summaries or memoranda as requested
  • Draft and revise agreements, amendments, deal terms, letters, notices, abstracts, and charts
  • Review credits
  • Take notes in meetings and calls
  • Digital filing and organization of documents

 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school with a passion and focus on entertainment, specifically within the business affairs department
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Excel with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities with short deadlines and maintain strong attention to detail

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous entertainment experience or internships
  • Relevant education or experience in agreements, legal, and budgeting
  • Enrolled as a rising 3L

The anticipated base salary for this position is $25.00/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
