Summer Intern Program duration: June 1 – August 7, 2026.

Location: Waterbury, CT or Hartford, CT

As an intern you will be responsible for supporting the SOX Compliance team with a wide range of activities.

Intern Responsibilities:

Assist SOX Team with all aspects of the SOX Program. Focus on producing  process documentation (flowcharts / narratives) and testing over design and operating effectiveness of SOX controls with oversight and guidance from the SOX Team. Real world experience with exposure to various, processes, teams and experiences.  Expand and refine understanding of auditing and accounting standards, and department procedures and strategies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participate in SOX walkthroughs and other meetings to gain an understanding of the processes and controls at the Bank,

  • Complete SOX testing in assigned areas, including assessment of control design through walkthroughs and testing of operating effectiveness,

  • Review and update process documentation (narratives and flow charts),

  • Manage testing requests and organize source documentation,

  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with SOX Team and SOX stakeholders.

Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements for Interns:

  • Current undergraduate rising Junior or Senior enrolled in an accredited college or university who is pursuing their bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred) or related field and has an interest in the banking/financial services industry

  • Resourceful, enthusiastic, and proactive

  • Highly organized

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail

  • Experience creating and delivering presentations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to learn quickly and solve problems

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Collaborative and inclusive team player

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.

The estimated hourly range for this position is $21/hour USD to $23/hour USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
