About the Role

Description

 SUMMARY OF POSITION: The IT intern assists the IT department with maintaining and recording company technology and assets. The individual in this position will work onsite to manage device inventory, perform routine maintenance, and support hardware setup and troubleshooting.  

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure company assets are properly maintained and accurately recorded. 
    • Update and maintain the IT database to record inventory.
    • Perform routine maintenance of company devices, including refreshing, wiping, and cleaning.
    • Clean and inspect hardware for functionality and damage.
    • Label network devices (routers, switches, etc.) with accurate identification and update as needed.
    • Update user accounts to align with any changes to staff data or organizational structure.
    • Order and coordinate shipping of supplies as needed.
    • Collect other device-related information and compile reports as needed.
  • Provide onsite troubleshooting under supervision of IT staff.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot basic hardware issues.
    • Support basic hardware and account-related requests.
    • Record common problems and resolutions for future reference.
  • Support IT related tasks for Onboarding and Offboarding staff.
    • Set up newly issued devices with user accounts in the various company systems.
    • Assist in one-on-one sessions with new hires for device set up and user training. 
    • Coordinate logistics of device returns, including preparing and sending shipping labels, collaborating with office managers, and communicating with offboarded staff.
    • Receive and inspect returned assets, documenting their condition, removing user accounts, and preparing devices for reuse.
  • Maintain and update the IT knowledgebase.
  • Share relevant coursework knowledge and skills with IT staff for process improvement. 
  • Participate in department meetings and training opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Reliable transportation to and from office locations.
  • Understanding of computers, networks, system management and hardware.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with database software.
  • Self-directed and able to work with or without supervision.
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
  • The ability to effectively build relationships with individuals of all ages, ethnicity, education, and work experience.
  • Respect for individual differences and multicultural diversity.
  • Maintains confidentiality and all regulations regarding HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Exhibits professionalism and a friendly demeanor, and is a positive representative of the company.  
  • Reliable, ethical, and honest work ethic.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Interest in IT, Tech, Computer Science, Data communications or other related fields.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Lift up to 15 lbs
  • Must have the ability to move about the office
  • Ability to sit and use a computer 
  • Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer and networking hardware. 
  • Sufficient near vision ability to read information appearing on computer display screens, in hand-written forms, and printed on paper.
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person or virtually.
