About the Internship

The AV Platform team is the operational engine behind how Alumni Ventures serves its portfolio companies, investor community, and ecosystem partners. The team runs high-touch founder and investor programs at scale, powered by rigorous systems and detailed playbooks.

This role sits at the intersection of venture capital, operations, and startup ecosystem building. As a Summer Analyst, you will be embedded in the Platform team, working day-to-day alongside two high-performing team members focused on foundational platform services, events, and ecosystem building.

Your job is to quickly absorb the team’s playbooks, take ownership of core operational workflows, and help the team operate with speed, clarity, and consistency. The work ranges from operational execution to systems building, and the best candidates take pride in making things run smoothly while constantly looking for ways to improve them. You will also receive weekly mentorship from an EVP, providing exposure to how senior leadership thinks about the business and broader venture platform strategy.

What You’ll Do

Operational Execution & Productivity Support

  • Quickly learn AV’s operational playbooks and take ownership of recurring processes that keep the platform running smoothly.
  • Help the team stay organized and on track by managing priorities, monitoring progress on key activities, and proactively flagging risks or bottlenecks.
  • Process and synthesize notes from AI meeting tools so key decisions, owners, and next steps are clearly captured and executed.
  • Maintain trackers and internal resource hubs so the broader team has reliable, up-to-date information.
  • Handle day-to-day logistics for the NYC office, including supply management, event setup, and infrastructure upkeep.

Event & Community Support

  • Support the execution of executive networking events, founder roundtables, and investor gatherings across the AV ecosystem.
  • Take ownership of specific logistical workflows across the team’s portfolio of events and community programs.
  • Support pre- and post-event workflows including invitations, confirmations, attendee management, and follow-up coordination.
  • Maintain community directories and internal resource hubs, keeping them current and well organized.
  • Coordinate with marketing and social teams to help amplify events and community initiatives.

Tools & Systems Building

  • Identify repetitive workflows and build lightweight tools using AI, automation platforms, or simple scripts to remove friction and improve how the team operates.
  • Help evaluate and implement tools and platforms that improve team productivity and operational clarity.
  • Document the systems and tools you build so they can be used and maintained by the broader team.
  • Bring a builder’s mindset: if something is done manually more than twice, think about how to systematize it.

Who You Are

  • Current undergraduate or recent graduate with genuine interest in venture capital, startups, or operations.
  • Hungry — you want to earn your place and take pride in executing things well, no matter the task.
  • Humble — you follow the playbook, learn before you improvise, and ask thoughtful questions.
  • Sharp — you learn quickly, stay organized, and anticipate what’s needed before being asked.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong instinct for follow-through and closure.
  • A clear communicator, both in writing and in person, who keeps the right people informed without being prompted.
  • Comfortable operating with imperfect information and figuring things out quickly.
  • You take ownership of problems instead of waiting for direction.
  • Fluent with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) as part of your everyday workflow, with curiosity to explore new tools and applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets, including formulas and clean data management.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds and willing to work occasional evenings for event support.
