About the Job:
Working with the Wellness Coordinator, the co-op student will be responsible for supporting the ongoing research and development of programs that directly support the community. The individual will be responsible for supporting the promotion of overall wellness and sustaining positive group work to maximize the wellbeing of clients, relationships with partners, and organizational strengths.
Through this co-op partnership with Peel District School Board’s Humberview Secondary School and Maanjiding Wiingushkeng, the Centre for Indigenous Excellence and Land-Based Learning and collaboration with Indigenous Community Partners, guidance teachers and classroom educators, the program strengthens students’ academic outcomes and fosters meaningful cultural connections benefitting both student and community while aligning with Peace Ranch's belief that nature nurtures mental health.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support community workshops, events, programs, & activities in collaboration with partners
- Assist with compiling data on programming
- Support project coordination (inventory of services and events)
- Support activities and programming
- Perform additional daily duties as required
Qualifications:
- Currently, enrolled in a Secondary School Co-op Placement and interested in post-secondary, or equivalent education stream
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Excellent time management, communication, people management, etc.
- Flexible, with skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.
- Enjoy working outside and comfortable with large animals
Reporting Function:
The student will work directly with the Wellness Coordinator at Peace Ranch with support from HART Staff and the Community Development Manager.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:30-3:30pm with the ability to change hours as required
- Able to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time
- Able to answer and communicate telephone calls and general computer use
- Able to lift up to 20lbs (product, documents, etc.)
