About the Role

Nature and Scope

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Process Engineering Intern will optimize manufacturing/production by analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and supporting improvement projects. They will also be focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction through tasks like process mapping, Lean implementation, documentation (SOPs, P&IDs), data analysis, and collaborating cross-functionally with operations, quality, and product teams, applying skills in CAD, simulation, and root cause analysis. 

 
Ability to complete a 13-week program (from May 18, 2026 to August 14, 2026) and commit to 40 hours per week onsite in Shirley, NY.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process Analysis & Improvement: Review existing processes, conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for defects, and develop/implement solutions.

  • Data & Documentation: Collect and analyze data, create process flow charts, update P&IDs, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Lean/Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean, 5S, or Kaizen principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

  • Project Support: Assist senior engineers on capital projects, equipment changes, and new product introductions (NPI).

  • Technical Tasks: Perform process simulations, assist with PLC data, and potentially use CAD software (like SolidWorks).

  • Collaboration: Work with operations, quality, maintenance, and production teams to achieve goals. 

Qualifications and Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related Engineering.

  • Data analysis, familiarity with manufacturing systems.

  • Problem-solving, communication (written/verbal), teamwork, project management.

Expected Hourly Rate:

$20.00 - $23.00
