About the Role

Your mission

During the internship, the candidate will support the engineering team in the design and technical assessment of renewable energy and battery storage projects, gaining practical experience in utility-scale energy infrastructure.
Key activities

  • Supporting the development of internal Excel-based tools aimed at improving the efficiency of the engineering team, including templates for electrical calculations, preliminary technical assessments and engineering checks.
  • Supporting the review of third-party engineering documentation, both at basic and detailed design level, related to medium- and high-voltage electrical systems of photovoltaic plants, wind farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This includes becoming familiar with electrical calculations, system configurations and regulatory compliance.
  • Assisting in the preliminary sizing and basic design of overhead and underground electrical lines as well as transformer substations, while learning how to estimate budgets for electrical infrastructure.
  • Contributing to the preparation and review of technical documentation required for grid access and connection applications submitted to Transmission System Operators and Distribution System Operators.
  • Participating in the review of electrical single-line diagrams for low, medium and high voltage systems, including plant grid connection schemes, protection systems, transformers, metering equipment and auxiliary services.
  • Supporting the development of basic designs for battery energy storage systems (BESS) associated with renewable plants. This includes exposure to BESS sizing methodologies, technology selection, and the modeling of hybrid renewable-plus-storage plants.
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of internal engineering tools, gathering feedback from the team and implementing enhancements to increase usability and accuracy.
  • Collaborating in the identification of potential improvements in the design, operation and maintenance of energy storage systems.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of internal design standards and technical guidelines for BESS projects.
