About the Role

Description

All work will be performed in accordance with the employer’s certificate to employ minors issued by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. The High School Intern(s) will assist with various manufacturing tasks and projects. This role is designed to provide practical experience in a manufacturing environment, supporting production and operations teams.  


This position is onsite (not remote/not hybrid) at our Dallas, Oregon facility.

Requirements

Interns may participate in some or all of the following tasks:


Manufacturing Support and Process Optimization:

  • Assist with manufacturing tasks and ongoing projects.
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve basic manufacturing issues.
  • Participate in implementing solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.

Assembly and Production:

  • Learn and assist with assembly procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team to improve assembly efficiency and quality.
  • Work on projects aimed at streamlining production processes.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Participate in basic quality control methods to ensure product standards.
  • Assist in identifying and solving quality issues.
  • Help implement quality control techniques.

Maintenance Support:

  • Work with the maintenance team to understand equipment needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in basic troubleshooting and maintenance activities.

Documentation and Analysis:

  • Help document manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Assist in generating reports on quality control inspections.
  • Provide insights to improve manufacturing processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Engage with different departments to provide feedback on manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with production planning to ensure optimal workflow.
  • Contribute to enhancing overall product quality and efficiency.

Shop Cleanup and Organization:

  • Assist with maintaining a clean and organized shop floor.
  • Participate in regular cleanup activities to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Help organize tools, materials, and workstations.

Materials Handling and Part Movement:

  • Assist in the handling and movement of materials and parts through the shop.
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of materials.
  • Help track and manage inventory levels.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Learn and apply safety regulations in manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in developing safety protocols for production activities.

Evaluation and Feedback: The employer will evaluate the Intern periodically throughout the summer to ensure that the Intern is given appropriate feedback on his or her employment skills and development. Employer will provide appropriate, industry-

standard task training to the Intern before and during each task assignment. The employer will strive to provide oral feedback at least every other week and will provide a written assessment at the end of the learning experience. Specific feedback will be provided on the Intern's performance as it relates to:

  • Attendance: Is at work on time when scheduled.
  • Safety: Observes safety protocols, voices concerns over potentially unsafe conditions, and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Teamwork: Maintains a positive team spirit and works well with others.
  • Dependability: Follows instructions, monitors own work, and is open to suggestions regarding productivity and work habits.
  • Communication: Listens, seeks clarification, and responds to questions.
  • Adaptability: Open to learning and is flexible in approach to work.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Understands the bigger picture business aspect of the work and is willing to perform assigned tasks timely and with appropriate attention to detail.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in high school, preferably in junior or senior year.
  • Interest in manufacturing and hands-on projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge.

Applicant must be able to pass a drug screening prior to employment.
