About the Role
 

Job Purpose/Description

  • The Welcome Weekend Internship plans and coordinates the fall welcome weekend. This internship will have the opportunity to plan, coordinate, and execute a major project with some support from the Student Activities Office

Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage fall welcome weekend in collaboration with the Director of Student Activities
  • Assist in the coordination of summer orientation.
  • Assist in the coordination, and facilitation of delta hiring, and training
  • Work directly with the Student Activities Director and the Dean of Students
  • Research other colleges and universities and keep up with trends in orientation
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of deltas and incoming students
  • Supply on-going support for deltas during orientation and welcome weekend
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing welcome weekend resource guides, as well as training and programming materials
  • Manage all aspects of welcome weekend from pre-planning, determining resource needs, pre-event marketing, and on-site coordination, to post event follow up
  • Order supplies needed for events and ensure items arrive in a timely fashion
  • Assist in vendor / performer selection and negotiating the best possible rates and terms
  • Develop effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Professional development opportunities through research and educational opportunities
  • Keep the office area clean and tidy
  • Bring creative ideas and energy to the position
  • Perform other similar and related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current CSS student
  • Federal work study eligibility is required                    
  • Computer skills required; prefer experience with MS Office Products
  • A strong commitment from June – the start of the school year is required
  • Currently enrolled full-time sophomore or junior
  • Must have a strong attention to detail, and ability to manage large amounts of data in an organized fashion
  • Comfortable with working autonomously, be resourceful, open to feedback
  • Sincere commitment to the position and goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people in a friendly, professional manner required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions is important
  • Professional presence to represent the College to the public required
  • Good attendance is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00
  • Have at least one year of experience working as a member of the Delta Team
