Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to join NAC Engineering team for the summer. We specialize in the design of power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems for schools hospitals and healthcare, higher education, and rec buildings. This internship provides hands-on exposure to the electrical engineering profession within the built environment and an opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and designers on real projects.

The intern will assist our electrical engineering team in developing building system designs while learning industry tools, codes, and best practices used in consulting engineering.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers and designers with electrical system design for building projects, including:
    • Power distribution systems
    • Interior and exterior lighting systems
    • Low-voltage systems such as data, communications, and security infrastructure
  • Support the preparation of construction drawings and design documents using CAD and/or BIM software (such as AutoCAD or Revit).
  • Perform basic engineering calculations, load summaries, and lighting layouts under supervision.
  • Conduct product research and review manufacturer cut sheets.
  • Assist with site visits and field observations to understand existing building systems and construction progress.
  • Help coordinate electrical designs with architects, mechanical engineers, and other project team members.
  • Organize project documentation and assist with internal quality control reviews.

Requirements

  

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Completion of at least 3 years of undergraduate coursework preferred
  • Interest in building systems, architecture, and the built environment
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and power systems
  • Familiarity with Revit, or similar design software is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and contribute in a collaborative environment
