About the Role

Sol Systems is an independent power producer committed to building and operating clean energy infrastructure that benefits communities for the long term. We develop, finance, and own solar and storage projects across the United States and partner with utilities, corporations, and local organizations to deliver responsible energy solutions. 

Sol Systems is seeking a Procurement Intern to support the Procurement Team. The intern can assist with scope and cost reviews, supplier coordination, negotiations, and procurement-related projects. This role provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in Supply Chain and Procurement to gain hands-on exposure to the renewable energy industry, while contributing to operational improvements, data tracking, and vendor coordination initiatives.   

Key responsibilities:  

  • Maintain and manage procurement trackers, spreadsheets, and documentation in Excel and internal systems 
  • Support contract execution, including tracking invoices, delivery schedules, purchase orders, and documentation 
  • Assist with supplier communication, including collecting quarterly vendor updates on equipment lead times 
  • Help manage and organize procurement records, including lien waivers, purchase orders, and project documentation 
  • Support the preparation and filing of project-specific exhibits and procurement records in coordination with internal teams such as preconstruction 
  • Assist with preparing and processing change orders based on vendor updates and project modifications 
  • Support the development and maintenance of procurement dashboards and reporting tools to track equipment lead times and procurement status 
  • Conduct market research and vendor outreach to compare pricing and services (e.g., warehousing providers) 
  • Assist with legal intake documentation and procurement-related compliance tasks 
  • Support process improvements and automation initiatives, including tools to streamline vendor communications and documentation tracking 
  • Assist with general procurement and operational projects and perform other duties as assigned 

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: 

  • Interest in renewable energy 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 
  • Interest in data tools, reporting, or process automation (e.g., dashboards, workflow tools) is a plus 
  • This role is open to current rising undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and graduate students 

Location & Hours: This is a full-time (30-40 hours per week) role based in Sol Systems’ Washington, D.C. office. Interns will be expected to work in the office 3 days a week.  

Compensation: This is a paid internship, with an hourly rate of $20-$25, commensurate with experience.
