About The Company
EmployIndy, the Workforce Investment Board for Marion County, Indiana, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and operator of the one-stop system in Marion County. Since 1983, EmployIndy has administered hundreds of millions of dollars in federal, state, local, and private funds to support workforce development initiatives for diverse populations. Securing over 20 government and private grants in recent years to augment its one-stop services, EmployIndy has an annual budget of more than $17 million. About the Role

Description

The IT Intern is a project-based internship that supports EmployIndy’s mission by assisting the IT Director with modernization initiatives aimed at reducing technical debt, improving cybersecurity posture, and increasing technology adoption. This role is perfect for an organized, detail-oriented, and analytical individual interested in a career in IT or organizational operations.


Asset Management Project

  • Assist in formulating and coordinating IT asset lifecycle management project.
  • Complete physical inventory of IT hardware, including laptops, desktops, peripherals, and network equipment.
  • Lead organization and maintenance of IT closets ensuring cleanliness and categorization.
  • Reconcile asset management database following completion of inventory.
  • Relocate physical equipment, such as laptops or monitors, within the office.

Data Analysis and Usage Projects

  • Review, analyze, and compare data sets to assist in strategic operational decisions, reduce security risks, and identify cost savings. Example assignment includes comparing HR system data and existing user licenses to identify unused accounts.
  • Review internal databases and resources to discover gaps in documentation or areas for improvement. 

Business Process Documentation Projects

  • Meet with end users to assist with business process analysis.
  • Identify inefficiencies or potential opportunities for digitization or workflow simplification.
  • Create basic process maps, process step-by-step descriptions, or summaries for review.

IT Knowledge Base Validation and Expansion

  • Collaborate with managed service provider to document basic processes, identifying areas for improved documentation or efficiencies.
  • Identify areas for outreach and improvement to encourage use of technology adoption and improved end user computing and cybersecurity practices.
  • Assist in building an internal end user IT knowledge base and communication site.

IT Director Support

  • Assist in administrative work for projects by creating training materials, project artifacts, or maintaining project documentation.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by IT management.

Requirements

  Experience

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a college program, or equivalent experience required.
  • Interest in a career in Information Technology, Informatics, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Nonprofit       Management, Business Operations, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Technical Skills

  • Moderate understanding of Windows operating system and end-user computing concepts.
  • Moderate knowledge of Microsoft M365 platform, particularly Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • General understanding of cybersecurity best practices, networking concepts, and relational databases. 
  • General understanding of business process mapping.
  • General understanding of project management principles.

  • Ability to complete work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to identify solutions when presented with a problem
