About the Role

 

Who We Are:

STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

 

As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Environmental Intern Co-op  to join our team. The incumbent will assist with on-site environmental monitoring, data collection and interpretation, equipment maintenance, incident investigation, and report preparation.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Work alongside the Environmental Team and learn from inspectors and subject matter experts to build core project management and technical skills needed for future success in the field by assuming a hands-on role supporting internal project delivery.
  • Assist in managing all environmental documentation associated with the project on a daily basis.
  • Support environmental monitoring and reporting, including organizing data and preparing environmental monitoring reports.
  • Support interpretation of data associated with dust, noise, soil, and water monitoring programs.
  • Help maintain environmental records and reports
  • Assist with waste management and recycling tracking.
  • Support compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Learn and participate in ISO 14001 environmental audits.
  • Additional tasks as defined by the Environmental Manager, Environmental Director, or other senior team members.

 

Experience You Will Bring:

  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary co-operative education program in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Previous experience in environmental fieldwork or monitoring on a construction project is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of environmental regulations and best practices in Ontario.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Willingness to continually learn and advance technical knowledge and capability.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills to interact effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to engage with team, support project outcomes, and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
