Position Summary
Seghesio Family Vineyards is seeking seasonal interns to join our cellar staff for the 2026 harvest season. We produce luxury Zinfandel and Sangiovese from 125+ year old vines from top growing regions Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys. Join our team of passionate, seasoned, and dedicated makers of world-renowned Zinfandel and work with state-of-the-art winemaking techniques, vessels, and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work to the expectations of winemakers to maintain the highest wine quality and adhere to safety standards and winemaking protocols at all times.
- Perform all aspects of cellar work, including but not limited to fruit processing, maceration techniques, tank digging, juice, must and wine transfers and additions.
- Operate a variety of pumps and other winery / cellar implements, including but not limited to cap management devices, forklifts, barrel filling equipment, de-stemmers, conveyers, sorting tables and presses.
- Cleaning and sanitation of stainless and concrete tanks, oak casks, barrels, and equipment including pumps, hoses, racking tools and fittings.
- Inoculate juice and wine for primary and secondary fermentations utilizing automated cellar equipment and by-hand methods.
- Monitor fermentations, maintain data logs, enter analysis into tracking software and report any out-of-spec values to Winemaking team.
- Analyze vineyard, crush and fermentation samples for grape maturity and juice and wine chemistry.
- Support grape sampling and other vineyard and cellar operations as assigned by Winemaking team.
Qualifications
- Previous cellar experience is preferred.
- Educational background in Enology, Viticulture, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field desired.
- Ability to work as part of the team and independently and be positive for yourself and those you work with.
- Team player with a keen eye for detail and a willingness to undertake the tasks needed for smooth operation in our vineyards and at our facility.
- Potentially act in a lead position during harvest, and otherwise provide direction/instruction/training to other cellar hands, seasonal workers, and temporary staff.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work long hours and various shifts.
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish is a plus.
- Ensure safety at all times including use of personal protective equipment.
The projected hourly pay range for this position is $20 to $24 per hour. The range is the projected compensation for this position, however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group – Seghesio Family Vineyards reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
