About the Role

JOB TITLE: Design Assistant Intern

EMPLOYER: Bear Real Estate Group 

DEPARTMENT: Bear Development 

REPORTS TO: Design Manager

SUMMARY: Assists the Design Manager and overall design team by helping to punch upcoming developments – this will include walking units, common area, and exteriors and preparing the developments for project turnover.  Assisting with FF&E deliveries, artwork & specialty feature installations, and overall set up.  Help the design team to create and provide thorough and detailed designs, budgets, and FF&E catalogs for all Bear properties and projects that strictly follow the Bear Standards as well as any other design requirements related to each project.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assists team with punching units, common areas, and exteriors of all upcoming developments.  This will include going to site and walking these spaces to ensure all finishes and layouts align with Bear Standards for building turn over and tenant and property management move ins.  When things do not align with Bear Standards they will need to be called out and recorded as such.  This will also include walking all spaces a secondary time to close out and confirm any fixes, updates, changes were made as needed.

    Assists team with development set ups and turnovers.  This will include being on site to oversee and monitor FF&E deliveries, installations, etc.  This may also include but is not limited to: hanging artwork, setting up furniture, accessorizing spaces, light general cleaning post set up, managing damaged FF&E items post-delivery, etc.

    Assists in creating accurate interior and exterior space plans of any necessary spaces regarding the required FF&E of these spaces. This will include using architectural plan sets to recreate spaces in 3D modeling software to properly lay out all FF&E for community spaces, model units, etc. according to proper size and scale.

    Assists in creating detailed and accurate budgets that reflect all FF&E items for each project relating back to space plans.

    Assists in selecting interior and exterior finishes for projects including but not limited to siding, roofing, flooring, paint, wall treatments, lighting, cabinetry, doors, trim, countertops, tiling, etc.

    Assists in creating aesthetically pleasing, detailed, and organized design presentations for both FF&E items and interior C exterior finishes.

    Assists in the design and creation of any specialty design features such as murals, signage, artwork, cabinetry designs, lighting layouts, etc.

    Assists in coordinating the ordering and review of any finish samples needed to properly complete selections or reviews.

    Assists in reviewing architectural plan sets for each project regarding: spaces functionality, efficiency, ensuring accuracy between selections and construction drawings, and accuracy to Bear standards.

    Assists in completing design submittals needed to keep the construction buy out and schedule moving at the scheduled pace.

    Assists in maintaining scheduled project timeline on completion of design related tasks through project completion.

    Assists in managing and keeping the Bear Standards document organized and up to date with any lessons learned or changes.

    Attends design meetings as needed in order to help accomplish all tasks listed above.

    Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


ǪUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Educational focus in Architecture/Interior Design

    Minimum 3.0 GPA

    Must be at least 18 years of age

    Eligible to work 20 hours (or more) per week

    Must have a valid driver’s license

    Must have a working vehicle that can be used to travel for work

    Familiarity with the following programs:

    Microsoft Outlook

    Excel

    Adobe Acrobat programs: Photoshop & Illustrator

    Well organized with ability to prioritize and multi-task

    Acute attention to detail

    Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees

    Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals

    Creative, flexible, and innovative team player
