About the Role

Intellectual Property Intern

Summer 2026
Location: Washington, DC (Foggy Bottom | In-Person, 5 Days a Week)
Schedule: Full Time; Monday - Friday

Job Summary: 
We are seeking a motivated intern—currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or law school program—to join our North American IP Team in the Washington, DC office. This is a full-time, in-person position, Monday through Friday. The intern will assist attorneys and paralegals with patent analysis, review technical industry research documents, and assist with IP portfolio management, particularly in the areas of electrochemistry and battery software technology. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in intellectual property, technology, and innovation, especially those pursuing careers in intellectual property law. 


Responsibilities:

  • Analyze patents and technical literature, especially in electrochemistry and related fields 
  • Assist attorneys with reviewing responses to USPTO office actions and/or pre-litigation matters 
  • Conduct research to support patent strategy and legal assessments 
  • Assist with document management and technical data organization 
  • Contribute to general office tasks, including preparing presentations and reports 


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or law school program 
  • College Intern: Major in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data science, or related fields 
  • Law School Summer Intern: Undergraduate background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields 
  • Experience or coursework related to lithium-ion batteries is a strong plus 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
