About the Role

We are seeking a Dietetic Intern to join our team at Independent Living Systems (ILS). ILS, along with its affiliated health plans known as Florida Community Care and Florida Complete Care, is committed to promoting a higher quality of life and maximizing independence for all vulnerable populations.

About the Role:

The Dietetic Intern position is designed to provide aspiring dietitians with comprehensive, hands-on experience in the health care services sector. This role focuses on applying nutritional science principles to support patient health and wellness under the supervision of experienced dietitians. The intern will engage in assessing dietary needs, developing nutrition plans, and monitoring progress to ensure optimal outcomes. Through this immersive experience, the intern will gain practical skills in nutrition, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ultimately, this role aims to prepare the intern for a successful career as a registered dietitian by bridging academic knowledge with real-world application.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited dietetics or nutrition program.
  • Basic understanding of human nutrition, dietetics principles, and clinical nutrition practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in healthcare settings.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software and willingness to learn electronic health record systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in healthcare or nutrition-related environment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and common health conditions influenced by nutrition.
  • Certification in CPR or basic life support (BLS).
  • Experience with nutrition analysis software or tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Study, discuss and analyze the various roles of a dietitian by working with RD.
  • Assess the basic nutritional needs of the population services by the corporation.
  • Develop nutrition education materials for the appropriate population serviced by the corporation.
  • Use appropriate educational techniques and materials for the appropriate population serviced by the corporation.
  • Conduct research targeted needs of the Nutrition & Wellness Department and create or edit menus and nutritional analysis.
