Cochlear is a world-leading medical device company, and there’s no better place to begin your journey. As a Cochlear Summer Intern, you’ll work on real projects that make a real difference gaining hands‑on experience, building technical capability, and contributing to life changing hearing technology used around the world.
What You’ll Do
Across 12 weeks, you’ll join one of our high‑performing engineering teams, such as: Mechanical Engineering, Advanced Innovation, Electrical Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, Firmware, Software, Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering & IT
Your work will be meaningful from day one. Depending on your team, you may:
- Develop and test mobile apps and cloud‑based solutions
- Design and build electromechanical systems
- Prototype and program electronic components
- Execute testing on mechanical hardware
- Contribute to product improvement initiatives
- Verify and validate new products or components
- Analyse data and present insights to engineering teams
Throughout the program, you will collaborate with some of the brightest engineering minds in the industry. You will be supported, challenged, and mentored as you explore your interests and grow your skills.
Who We’re Looking For
To be eligible for Cochlear’s Summer Student Program, you must:
- Be studying an Engineering, IT, Science, or related degree
- Be in your penultimate year, completing your degree in 2027
- Have the right to work in Australia without sponsorship after graduation
- Be available full‑time from late November 2026 to mid‑February 2027
We’re looking for curious, motivated students who want to become industry‑ready engineers and contribute to technology that transforms lives.
Your Pathway to a Graduate Role
At the end of the Summer Student Program, you’ll be considered for Cochlear’s exclusive Graduate Program commencing February 2028. Your performance during the internship will play a key role in your suitability for a graduate position.
Because our goal is to develop interns into future Cochlear engineers, we look for students who plan to enter industry after graduation. If you intend to pursue further study immediately after your undergraduate degree, you’re welcome to apply during the penultimate year of your postgraduate degree instead.
