Job Overview

The news team at Austin PBS is looking for an eager, creative, self-motivated intern to join our team. As an intern for the news department, you’ll help support the weekly news program, ongoing community-based journalism project, Decibel and Austin InSight. Interns get real hands-on experience and are an integral part of our team. You’ll assist with studio and field productions, researching topical issues, social media content creation – all with the opportunity to work alongside a group of talented journalists and storytellers. You will be trained & mentored on the following job duties.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assist with studio production and field productions
  • Pitch story ideas
  • Create new social media friendly content from existing packages 
  • Pitch and coordinate studio and remote interviews 
  • Staff remote shoots
  • Perform other duties as needed 

Important Information

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student, must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship
  • Strongly prefer candidates majoring in journalism 
  • Student must be available to commit to a minimum of 9 weeks for this internship
  • Internship will be hybrid
  • 15-20 hour a week commitment 
  • Pay rate is $20/ hour
