About the Role

Apprentice - Health and Social Care (Customer Only)

15 months apprenticeship, full time (37.5 hpw), typically Monday to Friday 9-5 with a flexible approach

Salary from £10.00 to £12.21 per hour, dependant on your age, plus an industry recognised qualification that we pay for, and brilliant benefits including health cash plan!

So what’s so great about this apprenticeship? Well, your wage will be higher than the national apprenticeship minimum wage, so start planning what to spend that extra cash on! You’ll be employed for a 15 month period to get stacks of experience and launch your career! You’ll start at NVQ level 2 (equivalent to a GCSE) with a possible progression to level 3 (equivalent to A-levels) and many apprentices secure a permanent role with us! Who knows where future you will end up!

What you’ll do

  • Our supported Learning Disability service provides tailored support to vulnerable people in their own home or out in the community, helping them build independence, develop life skills and work towards their personal goals.

  • We are a diverse, well-balanced team, bringing a valuable and effective mix of life and work experiences together, to help build customer skills and confidence and meet their goal to achieve independent living. 

  • You’ll also have a mentor from within the team, someone who does a similar role, who will offer additional guidance and support. 

  • Work with an expert apprenticeship delivery partner to attend all learning and achieve an industry recognised qualification. 

  • Getting support from an experienced tutor as well as your own team. You will have access to the learning materials and practical experience to make a success of your apprenticeship and achieve your qualification.

You have

  • You are a current or previous customer of Home Group or currently live in a Home Group property. 

  • Ideally you have GCSEs in English and maths, but don’t worry if not, you will complete these as part of your apprenticeship learning. 

  • We’re a high-tech organisation so we need you to have good IT skills or be keen and willing to learn all of the basics such as outlook and Teams, plus some specific tools relevant to the role.

  • You’ll have a passion for people from all different walks of life and will enjoy getting to know and understand their barriers, goals and aspirations in life.

  • With a curious and interested mind, you’ll want to ask lots of questions to learn everything you can during your apprenticeship and our team are keen and ready to pass on their knowledge to help you develop your skills.

  • A genuine interest in and commitment to learning and personal and professional development – this is a learning role after all!

The practical bits

  • You will be doing a level 2 Adult Care Work qualification, and this will last 15 months. You’ll gain stacks of experience to help you launch your career. 

  • Many of our apprentices secure a permanent role with us so who knows where you’ll end up in the future!

  • It’s important you’re at work when our team are around to support you so, although hours of work are usually 9am-5pm, flexibility is important. We’ll also ask you to work different days or times if there is something happening you can learn from, so that your experience is broad and diverse.

  • You will have built in time (20%25 of your working week) for study and support for working towards your qualification.

  • You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check and we pay for that.
