About the Role
Description
The LPC Intern provides supervised mental health counseling services to individuals, couples, families, or groups. The intern works under a licensed supervisor to develop clinical skills, complete required supervised hours, and deliver ethical, evidence-based care.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments and psychosocial evaluations for clients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results.
- Provide individual, group, couples, or family therapy sessions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and progress notes.
- Participate in clinical supervision and case consultations.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment interventions when needed.
- Provide crisis intervention and referrals to appropriate services.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in accordance with professional guidelines.
- Collaborate with other professionals such as psychiatrists, social workers, and medical staff.
- Attend training, workshops, and staff meetings to enhance clinical skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and in the process of pursuing a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related mental health field.
- State approval as an LPC Intern / LPC-Associate (or eligible for intern status).
- Ability to work under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC, LPC-MH, LMFT, CSW-PIP, Psychologist, or Psychiatrist).
- Knowledge of counseling theories and therapeutic techniques.
- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in clinical counseling, practicum, or internship.
- Training in modalities such as CBT, trauma-informed therapy, play therapy, or family therapy.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
