About the Role

Food & Beverage Intern, Riverbend 

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Kohler, WI

Opportunity

The Food and Beverage Internship candidates will perform all job functions throughout the Riverbend Food and Beverage department, as well as exposure to cross-functional teams at Riverbend. Time frames for each area will be adjusted in accordance with business needs. 

This position will expose the candidate to fine dining service in a private club atmosphere, as well as cross functional teamwork in a private club atmosphere. Additional exposure in Food and Beverage in a private club environment as allowed will also be included to expose the candidate to other departments. The candidate will gain valuable experience from both the Line and Supervisory levels. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Shadow and train in the following positions: Busser, Dining Attendant, Bartender, Sommelier, Dining Room Manager, Cook, Meeting & Events Planner.
  • Scheduling 
  • Interviewing front line staff
  • Leading daily communications
  • Building member relations and problem solving
  • Serving as Manager on Duty
  • General guest service skills learned in the various roles they will train in 
    Performance Management and performance evaluations
  • Will learn to be proficient in InfoGenesis, ResortSuite, Microsoft Office, Kohler Intranet, Workbrain, Workplace Ordering System, and Inventory Management based on assigned internship.
  • Intern may be assigned a final project which will be a presentation for the Senior Leadership Team. The presentation will focus on key learning from their internship as well as reporting out on their assigned project, if applicable.  

Shifts will vary between 6:00am and 2:30am, weekdays and weekends.

Skills/Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a junior level student in a four year hospitality related college program for summer internship or graduate of a four year hospitality related college program for a seasonal internship.
  • Emphasis of study must be focused on hospitality, resort, or spa management.
  • Strong academic performance with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.
  • Previous hospitality experience required.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality or private clubs preferred. 

The hourly rate for this position is $14.30 plus gratuities. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
