Astrion's Systems Engineering Group (SEG) has openings for year-round internships in Software Development at our Columbia, Maryland Office. 

 

Systems Engineering Group, Inc. (SEG) is a highly regarded provider of air and missile defense threat engineering and combat, radar, and missile systems engineering and analysis. Principal customers include the U.S. Navy, Missile Defense Agency, and Industry. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance. US citizenship is required for eligibility as per the cognizant security agency and requirements of the programs supported in this role. 
  • All candidates must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university. 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. 
  • Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to read and write code in Python, and C++  
  • Experience with documentation and presentations using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word). 
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams or groups. 
  • Ability to work independently with guidance as needed. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Aid in the development of simulations and models to characterize threat ballistic and cruise missile performance. These include supporting ongoing simulation development in the following areas: 

  • Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) flight simulations 
  • Radio Frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) modeling. 
  • Seeker models and simulations 
  • Phenomenological models for missile debris, clutter, and RF signature waking
