About the Role

Summary:
The position as a Co-Op Engineer, in the Base System Department, will work both independently and alongside experienced engineers on the design, development, benchmarking, and prototyping of brake systems and components. Each work term includes a development plan based on academic level and/or prior experience, with responsibilities increasing along the development path.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Support technical development activities by gaining proficiency in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), test methods and equipment.
2. Conduct component benchmarking, including procuring parts, measuring components and completing reports.
3. Assist in design activities including prototype builds, testing components, including physical properties testing and inspection of components and assemblies.
4. Ensure parts are delivered and/or picked up by engineering, customer or management request.
5. Generate and present “End of Term Presentation” for completed/on-going activities and desired future activities to engineering and management.
6. Perform other special projects, tasks, or duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

 

Other Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Work is performed in a traditional office, test lab, and/or garage environment.
2. Occasional domestic travel may be required to customer sites or manufacturing sites.
3. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (e.g., test equipment, prototype components).
4. Required to work additional hours to meet deadlines, as necessary

Student pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Currently attending 4-year university in pursuit of a degree in mechanical engineering.

 

Special Skills:
Strong organizational and communication skills.

 

Certificates, Licensees, Registrations:
Valid driver's license.
