The Accounting Intern will support the Accounting and Finance Department of an agricultural company by assisting with daily financial operations. This internship provides hands-on experience in agribusiness accounting and financial reporting related to agricultural production and distribution.
This position is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Agribusiness, or a related field who is interested in applying accounting principles within a production-based environment.
Essential Functions

- Support accounts receivable tracking, invoicing, and customer payment reconciliation.
- Help maintain accurate vendor and customer records.
- Assist with resolving discrepancies in billing or payments.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Maintain organized financial documentation and electronic filing systems.
- Help prepare documentation for audits or internal reviews.
- Compile financial data for management reports.
Competencies
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data organization.
- Familiarity with accounting software Sage preferred.
- Understanding of financial statements and general ledger structure.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Interest in agribusiness financial operations
Supervisory Responsibility
This position requires no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office and, in some cases, from a remote offsite location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position is primarily sedentary and requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires good manual dexterity and coordination with the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is an internship position designed for the summer semester, 10-12 weeks is the expected duration. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Accounting Manager; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Expected Education and Experience
- Customer Service experience
- Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals
- Ability to solve practical industry related problems.
- Professional or educational experience in business, accounting/finance or analytics.
- Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.
