This is a unique intern opportunity in psychiatric pharmacy within an academic medical center. As part of the care team, we work in collaboration with nurses, prescribers, and social workers to support patients in the recovery in the hospital setting and during care transitions. Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Documentation & Billing

  • Complete departmental documentation and billing by end of each shift (e.g., dispensing records, refrigerator logs, chemotherapy compounding records, billing, controlled substance delivery records).
  • Complete clinical workload documentation (manual or electronic) by end of each shift.

Medication Management

  • Assist pharmacist with medication distribution, delivery, refilling automated dispensing cabinets, and exchanging emergency medication carts.
  • Assist pharmacist with medication review (e.g., computer order entry, monitoring allergies, enforcing formulary decisions, evaluating drug interactions).
  • Participate in filling medication orders, maintaining patient profiles, and performing prepackaging.
  • Prepare IV admixtures/chemotherapy and controlled substance orders.
  • Prepare drug information responses and medication use evaluations.

Service & Work Environment

  • Demonstrate a service orientation in all interpersonal relations, conveying a positive, professional image.
  • Develop and maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.

Information Systems & Robotics

  • Use information systems, robotics, and other applications to prepare medication labels and assist with dispensing medications.

  • Good standing in an accredited School of Pharmacy, entering P1 year or above, and applied for intern license within 90 days of hire.

  • The candidate must possess good communication and computer skills.

Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy Intern License required 
 

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Pharmacy Intern
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
