About the Role

Summer Internship in Rocky Mount, Virginia. 


Role

The Data Intern will assist the Data department in various tasks, including shadowing data analysts to gain insight into their daily responsibilities. This entry-level position is designed to provide hands-on experience in business intelligence and data analytics while learning and building upon basic programming language and skills.  The intern will have the opportunity to complete/support projects under the guidance of team members, contributing to real-world initiatives. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

 • Build relationships with internal team members and leadership

 • Shadow staff to observe their workflow and learn best practices. 

 • Assist in data collection, cleaning, and organization tasks to support ongoing projects.

 • Learn and practice basic programming languages.

. • Collaborate with team members to understand project requirements and goals.

 • Contribute ideas and insights to discussions and brainstorming sessions.

 • Complete a designated project, applying newly acquired skills to deliver actionable insights or solutions.

 • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.

 • Recommend improvements to processes, products, and services based on observations.

 Requirements

 • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to accounting, business, data science, computer science, statistics,  finance, marketing, or a related field

. • Basic understanding of data analysis concepts and techniques. 

• Strong willingness to learn and develop skills in programming languages.

 • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others

. • Eagerness to contribute to meaningful projects and initiatives. 

Interpersonal Skills 

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with an array of stakeholders of sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day to day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance
