Position Description: Assist in day-to-day activities within Information Services (IS) Services & Support discipline including supporting development and maintenance of information systems, analyzing data to improve workflows, and contributing to cybersecurity protocols. Assist with providing technical support to end-users by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, developing end-user training materials, and collaborating with IS team members to ensure effective information sharing and system performance.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Depending on business need and location, this role will be supervised and assigned to work within Information Services Services & Support team at a department located at a main office or at an active construction project site.
  • Assist Information Services (IS) Services & Support team with end-user support, troubleshooting, asset management, and hardware and software deployment.
  • Take direction from supervisor and be receptive to learning about IS practices.
  • Provide progress reports to supervisor as directed.
  • Relate and apply knowledge acquired in academic setting to work activities.
  • Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and orientation.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned. Based on the assignment, the following activities may be performed, and for Co-Ops in longer-term assignments may gain more in-depth experience and exposure:
  • Assist with creating, updating statuses, and resolving support tickets, prioritizing requests (as directed), and providing timely response to end user inquiries.
  • Assist with creating and updating documentation for IS inventory, project sites and systems, including user guides, troubleshooting steps and office and jobsite setup.
  • Assist with imaging hardware, installing software and setting up jobsites.
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining IS assets, such as hardware, software licenses, and network devices.
  • Comprehend and follow IS Operations and Maintenance manual, and follow and comply with safety protocols and expectations, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) on construction work site as directed.
  • Participate in testing and validating new software, updates or system configurations to ensure functionality and compatibility as directed.
  • Prepare materials and assist with training sessions to help end users understand and use IS systems and applications.
  • Assist and collaborate with teams on IS projects (e.g., system upgrades, migrations, new technology implementation) by performing assigned tasks and reporting progress.
  • Assist with researching emerging technologies, software tools, or best practices to recommend improvements for IS Services & Support organization.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled and actively pursuing college or university accredited degree program, or enrolled in a Co-op program, recommended majors include and not limited to Information Technology, Security, Data Analytics, or other related field of study, and at minimum 1 year of completed education, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must be 18 years of age to work at a construction project site
  • Desire to work in Information Systems and to learn about construction industries and technology
  • Commitment to work standard business hours and overtime as necessary, as determined by assignment
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills including student leadership, volunteerism, or other community involvement
  • Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills, English language required
  • Ability to read and comprehend written information
  • Assume personal and professional accountability for own actions and activities
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and participate
  • Able to work independently, with direction and supervision, and in team environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
