About the Role

About the Role:

You will assist the Chief Auditor and Director, Audit & Attest Standards of the AICPA (American Institute of CPAs) and the Audit & Attest Standards team with various projects related to professional standard setting issues, with a focus on auditing, attestation, and quality management standards being considered by the Auditing Standards Board [ASB].

The ASB is the senior committee of the AICPA designated by the AICPA Council to issue auditing, attestation, and quality management standards and practice guidance for performing and reporting on (a) audit engagements for nonissuers (that is, entities not included within the jurisdiction of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board [PCAOB] and (b) attestation engagements.

The mission of the ASB is to serve the public interest by developing, maintaining, and communicating comprehensive auditing, attestation, and quality management standards and practice guidance that enable practitioners to provide high-quality, objective audit and attestation services effectively and efficiently.

You will report to the Director, Audit and Attest Standards and use a remote work schedule. You will join the Association in mid-May 2026 and work for a maximum of 15 weeks, through September 2026.

You Will:

  • Research various issues being considered by the ASB, applicable regulators, and other standard setter
  • Develop slide presentations on current standard setting issues
  • Help compare proposed changes to AICPA standards to standards of the PCAOB and IAASB (International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board) 
  • Collaboratively work with volunteer led task force and working group members while building rapport and strong relationships
  • Observe ASB meetings and help prepare summaries
  • Assist with developing and managing timelines, keeping current on upcoming deadlines and necessary actions
  • Help analyze comment letters sent to the ASB in relation to active standard setting projects using technology
  • Assist with evaluating auditing and assurance proposals of other organizations and the related preparation of comment letters 


You Have:

  • Completed course work that provides a base understanding of auditing and accounting theory and practice

  • Current student studying accounting, preferably someone currently entering, completing, or has completed a Master of Accounting program

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

The Salary for this role is: $20 per hour
