About the Role

Getty Marrow Registration and Collections Internship


This Getty Marrow internship in the Registration and Collections department provides a comprehensive introduction to LACMA, including its registration processes for managing the permanent collection and its acquisition program. The intern will assist with updating The Museum System (TMS) database and work with a wide range of digital materials—including correspondence, photographs, and provenance records—while organizing documentation related to accessioned artworks. Working closely with the Incoming Loans and Permanent Collection Registrars, the intern will support core registration functions such as processing acquisitions, researching collection inquiries, documenting complex installations, and organizing accession files. The intern will also contribute to key institutional initiatives by processing images and documentation from the inaugural installation of the Geffen Galleries.

This is a paid 10-week full-time internship (40 hrs/wk) beginning in June 2026 with a working schedule of Monday–Friday from 8am–5pm at $18.50/hour.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A background in art history, library science, or fine arts is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and strong written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Knowledge of or experience in art is preferred.

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in a bachelor’s or associate degree program, with at least one semester or two quarters completed by June; recent graduates (from the immediately preceding term) are also eligible.

  • Must be attending a college within Los Angeles County or be a permanent resident of Los Angeles County.
