About the Role

Job Description

Are you interested in working with cutting edge Additive Design and Manufacturing technologies and help The LEGO Group develop and mature a new manufacturing platform?

Take this opportunity to play a vital role in the incorporation of new Additive Manufacturing (AM, also known as 3D printing) technologies for large scale production.

Core Responsibilities

You will be joining the Additive Element Maturing team for 4-6 months (ideally 6 months). You and your team will be working with the development of AM elements for consumer goods.

As an intern, you’ll assist in streamlining our engineering processes. You’ll be responsible for creating and documenting macros and automated workflows to support reviewing CT data files. Additionally, you’ll develop clear written instructions for running through the workflows, ensuring ease of use for all team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and document macros to automate workflows for part checking
  • Write user friendly guides for operating the macros
  • Investigate additional software functionalities to improve existing processes
  • Collaborate with team and stakeholders to establish standard approaches to assessing CT data
  • Experience working hands-on by operating and experimenting with Additive Manufacturing machines.
  • Be a member of our Additive Engineering team and participate in team meetings, social events, etc.

Required Skills:

  • CAD Experience
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Experience with Automation
  • Strong Technical Writing skills
  • Proactive and capable of working independently

Based from our office in Billund, you will join the Additive Engineering team, who is responsible for the development, engineering, and delivery of Additive Manufacturing (AM) elements and equipment at the LEGO Group. The department focuses on applying polymer and metal AM technologies to production needs by developing robust engineering solutions and establishing standardized processes for reliable manufacturing. In close collaboration with the AM technology development team, Additive Engineering supports the maturing and scaling of AM technologies toward large-scale industrial use. 

Do you have what it takes?

You are one step ahead of the game if you have previous experience with AM. You desire to learn more and soak up all the new information that comes your way, just as you will need to have the ability to adapt to new situations with ease. You are innovative and imaginative, and thinking out of the box comes naturally. You are comfortable in group work, have good communication skills and can convey a clear message to those around you.

In addition, you are:

  • Studying engineering within the field of mechanical, design, production or similar, and must be enrolled in an educational program that gives credit for internship during the internship period.
  • Able to do the internship in the period July/August – January
  • Proficient in English both verbally and written
  • Able to work 37 hours weekly and be present in our offices in Billund
  • Passionate about working with quality evaluation and improvements
  • A high performing individual with an ability to show results

As well as you might have:

  • Experience using one or more Design or CAD tools: Solidworks, Siemens NX, Inventor or similar.
  • Experience working with Design of Experiments
  • Experience with statistics, data analysis and data visualization are beneficial
  • Coding skills is an advantage, e.g. Python, C++, C#, etc.
