We are seeking an ambitious bachelor’s, or master’s student (m/f), to support our Packaging, Specialty Plastics & Hydrocarbons Business for our location in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.
This internship offers hands-on experience in a global, international and dynamic environment where creativity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills are highly valued. The department that will welcome you is the New Business Development team, part of a global organization focused on Process & Catalysis R&D. We support various sustainability programs in areas such as Advanced Recycling, Decarbonization, and Waste valorization.
Project description:
The internship focuses on Advanced Recycling of Mixed Plastic Waste by scaling up an innovative plastics upcycling concept from laboratory proof-of-principle to more representative experimental conditions. The project aims to generate robust, high quality data on process operability, repeatability, and product consistency. The results will support downstream process design and economic evaluation. The role offers hands-on laboratory work with strong relevance to industrial sustainability challenges.
Responsibilities
- You work as part of a collaborative team in a laboratory setting, helping design experiments and tests and executing them safely and reproducibly.
- You collect, organize, and interpret data, providing clear summaries and insights to the research team.
- You conduct background research to stay current with scientific advancement relevant to the project.
- You prepare clear documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate progress and key findings.
- You support day-to-day lab, technical, or project activities as needed to drive innovation and project completion.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science or similar.
- Good working knowledge of English. Dutch language proficiency is considered a plus.
- You have experience in a lab environment.
- You can start between June and September 2026 for a period of five to six months (exact timing to be discussed).

Additional notes
- There is no visa support for this role.
- Selected candidates are expected to work on location in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.
