POSITION SUMMARY

The Intern, Category Management will support the development, execution, and evaluation of marketing campaigns and innovation projects across multiple brands. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to learn how new product ideas are brought to market and how brand strategies are executed within a consumer goods company. The intern will assist in conducting research, analyzing trends, supporting promotional planning, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

 


Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Report Generation: Support category and brand performance reporting (weekly/monthly) for assigned retailers and categories
  • Build and maintain Excel-based models, trackers, and dashboards; ensure accuracy and consistency of inputs and outputs.
  • Analysis: Analyze syndicated data to identify trends, growth opportunities in distribution
  • Assist with assortment analytics (SKU productivity, whitespace, rationalization) and planogram/merchandising support.
  • Support promotional analysis (lift, ROI proxies, post-event reviews) and help document learnings and recommendations.
  • Presentation/Communication: Contribute to retailer presentations by creating clear charts, tables, and concise storylines.
  • Continuous Improvement: Help improve data processes by documenting methods, standardizing templates, and identifying automation opportunities. Continue to data maintenance processes
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with teams like Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Process Improvement: Help document processes and identify areas for efficiency

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Operations Management or similar field. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest in consumer products, branding, and innovation.
  • Available 15–20 hours/week during business hours.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or campus experience in marketing, communications, or product development.
  • Experience with market research tools (e.g., Mintel, Nielsen, IRI) is a plus.
  • Exposure to project management or collaboration platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, Teams).
  • Passion for food, beverages, and consumer behavior.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

 

OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

 

VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

 

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
