About the Role

Job Purpose:

 

The Maintenance Intern will support the maintenance team by assisting with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of production and building equipment. This role provides hands-on experience in preventative maintenance, production support, and documentation, while fostering collaboration with production staff to ensure efficient operations and a safe work environment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of production and building equipment under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  • Support production activities by helping with changeovers, product setups, and startups.
  • Participate in the inspection and maintenance of production and building equipment through routine preventative maintenance checks.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and staff to ensure clear communication and timely flow of information.
  • Help document maintenance activities performed on equipment.
  • Assist in the requisition and replenishment of machine consumables and spare parts as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S principles as needed.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Supervisory Responsibility: No

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or related fields is preferred.
  • Enrollment in a relevant technical or vocational program is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Any previous experience in a maintenance role, even if through school projects or internships, is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors.
  • Aptitude for identifying issues and proposing solutions.
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to gain practical experience and knowledge.
  • Familiarity with basic software for documentation and reporting.

Working Conditions:

 

Indoor production environment, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures, some work outside may be required, Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent repetitive hand movements, using hand tools – pliers, sanders, scissors, etc
  • Frequently remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
  • Frequently move about the facility indoors as well as outdoors to make repairs, etc…
  • Constantly positions self to repair/build equipment and/or facility
  • Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to service equipment and/or complete a building repair
  • Must be able to detect equipment issues and assess for repairs 
  • Regularly move tools and equipment up to >25 lbs.
