About the Role

Salute is a leading provider of cutting-edge Data Center Infrastructure Services, dedicated to serving data center clients worldwide. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Intern to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights. 

As an Engineering Intern, you will be working with our engineering and consulting team to assist in evaluating building MEP systems and the big data that these operational systems produce. We have developed a training course that will put energy, CFD, and analytical software in your hands, to train and use in that we may better understand their performance. 
 
The data from these models can then be used to inform both energy and water optimization opportunities and drive real world change. We are looking for self-motivated, problem-solving, and passionate engineers to join our team and help us do just that!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn how to use industry-specific hardware and software tools, as well as develop your own tools and outputs 
  • Carrying out energy modeling and building analyses
  • Learn the basics of data center design and operation 
  • Gain an understanding of the construction process 
  • Performing energy and water efficiency calculations
  • Helping automate the data processing pipelines
  • Supporting sustainability projects and initiatives
  • Support sustainability projects and initiatives 
  • Going on-site to data centers as opportunities exist

SKILLSET AND ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil). Junior standing or higher preferred.
  • Interest in energy and sustainability 
  • Familiarity with thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Desire to learn how to apply engineering calculations to client facing solutions
  • Commitment to learning and interacting with energy modelling software and technology (no prior experience required)
  • Eager to follow, develop, and continually optimize processes and workflows 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Office Applications
  • Preferred programming experience in Python
  • Independent work approach, as a remote position must be able to work independently but also reach out to senior staff for project support

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure 

The hourly rate for this role is $26.00 per hour. This range reflects a good‑faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job‑related factors consistent with applicable law. This posted hourly rate is the final rate of pay for the position, based on job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
