Job Details

Compensation: $19.18/hour
Start Date: June 1, 2026
End Date: August 7, 2026
Location: This position will be hybrid located in Washington D.C or the DC metro area
Hours: Part-time; Between 15-25 hours per week, with flexible hours as needed

In this internship, you will:

  • Host weekly grassroots or advocacy events, including virtual phone banks and call-in days, to build public pressure against harmful bills, oppose extreme judicial nominees, or support reproductive freedom champions running for office;
  • Assist with organizing rapid response events and actions;
  • Prepare training materials and content to equip volunteers with the tools they need to advocate effectively;
  • Recruit and engage members and volunteers, ensuring strong turnout for actions;
  • Follow up with volunteers to introduce ongoing opportunities for leadership, such as one-on-one meetings with emerging leaders;
  • Attend department meetings and team training sessions;
  • Track organizing and outreach efforts in project management tools, including VAN;
  • Attend in-person campaign events in Virginia.

In this internship, you will learn:

  • A deeper understanding of the reproductive freedom movement, current policies, and effective organizing and advocacy techniques;
  • Key grassroots organizing tactics essential to mobilizing communities, including pitching volunteer opportunities, recruitment, phone banking, and one-on-one meetings with emerging leaders;
  • Skills in working with and training volunteers, as well as organizing impactful advocacy events;
  • Experience in planning and managing projects within a political organization;
  • Proficiency in organizing tools such as VAN, Hustle, Slack, Impactive, and Control Shift.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous grassroots or electoral organizing experience (professional or volunteer) or a demonstrated interest in organizing;
  • Has experience organizing others to get involved in a cause;
  • Is excited to talk to people one on one or in groups about reproductive rights;
  • Is interested in gaining professional experience in politics and organizing;
  • Is open to working some nights and weekends to attend campaign events;
  • Not mandatory, but let us know if you speak multiple languages;
  • Has a demonstrated commitment to contributing to a workplace environment in which diversity is valued and supported;
  • Demonstrates an alignment with our organization’s values.
