This internship is fully onsite in our San Antonio, TX based headquarters.
As a member of the technical staff, the Mechanical Engineering Intern is responsible for helping develop and maintain the mechanical aspects for our standardized products (InductOne, Grippers, Perception kits, etc). This includes creating mechanical designs, specifying off-the-shelf components, defining process definitions, work instructions, creating and updating documentation, assisting pre-production builds, and system testing/debugging/troubleshooting.
Essential Functions
- Assist in conceptualizing, modeling, simulating, designing, analyzing, fabricating, and testing demo/pilot robotic systems
- Create, innovate, and invent new/better automation products/solutions for robotic material handling
- Assist in producing design drawings, assembly drawings, assembly/work instructions, and bill of materials
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., electrical, software, manufacturing) or participate in cross-functional meetings.
- Write and execute test procedures to ensure that products meet physical requirements (performance, lifetime, etc).
- Operate common power tools for modification and construction purposes
Competencies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
- Comfortable familiarity with the internet and commonly used computer applications and functions.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.

Required Education and Experience
- A student who is a junior or higher, at least a 3.5 GPA, currently studying mechanical engineering (or related mechanical major)
- Educational experience with CAD (modeling, drafting, or revision/change management)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Professional (work) experience with SolidWorks (modeling, drafting, or revision/change management)
- Experience with different manufacturing processes (sheet metal, weldments, 3d printing, injection molding, etc)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Part-Time up to 30 hours/week between M-F, 9:00am-6:00pm. We can be flexible with schedules for the right candidate.
We are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role, however CPT/OPT students are welcome to apply.
