What is the compensation?
$17.00 per hour.

What are the main duties?
Perform Storm Water quality inspections of construction and municipal sites.
Gather survey data on the City’s Storm Water systems.
Prepare reports.
Perform other related duties as required.
What qualifications do I need to apply?
Bona fide student in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field.
Valid, lawful driver license. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record, as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Must pass a test to become a Utah Registered Storm Water Inspector (RSI) following the provided training.
What is the schedule?
Average of 30-40 hours per week during the summer. Average 15-20 hours per week during the school year. City work hours are Monday through Thursday, flexible between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Initial hire intended for one year and a total of 1,000 to 1,400 hours. Employment may be extended beyond the first year, depending on quality of work performed and the continuing needs of the Public Works Division.
What are the physical/environmental factors?
This work requires extended periods at a computer and at construction sites or other outdoor locations. The position may also require contact with the public in challenging or uncomfortable circumstances.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening held on April 1, 2026 . Applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed above to be eligible for consideration.
Prior to appointment, the applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Non-disclosure will result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of 6 months.
